| Neuroradiology Fellowship University of Louisville School of Medicine, Louisville, KY We have an immediate opening for TWO neuroradiology fellows at the University of Louisville School of Medicine for July 2025, for our 1-year ACGME accredited fellowship program. This is due to a recent program expansion from 2 to 4 fellowship slots. The fellowship includes rotations with vascular neurosurgery, neuropathology, radiation oncology and a pain-medicine elective, as well as pediatric neuroradiology at Norton Children’s Hospital. We have 8 fellowship trained neuroradiology faculty across various sites, the majority also subspecialty certified in Neuroradiology. We have experience and staff with expertise in all advanced imaging modalities, including fMRI, MRS, DTI, and nuclear-medicine/PET, as well as a varied and exceptional case mix from our strong referral services, including the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, a Level 1 trauma center and comprehensive stroke care center at University of Louisville Hospital, and a pediatric level 1 trauma center at Norton Children’s Hospital. Interventional experiences include training in lumbar punctures, myelograms, vertebral augmentations, biopsies, catheter angiography, and interventional pain procedures. The principal site will be University of Louisville Hospital, where our equipment comprises a 1.5T clinical MRI, two 3T clinical MRIs , and 4 multidetector CT scanners, as well as two dedicated neuroangiographic suites with 3D reconstruction capabilities, two other IR suites, and SPECT-CT and PET-CT. In addition to the principal site, Norton Children’s Hospital, UofL Health Jewish Hospital and the Robley Rex VA Medical Center will be additional sites of training for the fellowship. Research facilities include the UofL Clinical and Translational Research Center, containing large animal and human research 3T MRI, and 9.4T MRI and PET-CT for small-animal research. To illustrate the scope of research, there are ongoing NIH funded projects in traumatic spinal cord injury in animal models, and the Frazier Neurological Institute conducts human research using epidural stimulation to rehabilitate traumatic spinal cord injury patients. All sites use McKesson PACS. Staff support is outstanding, with experienced and motivated technologists and administrative personnel. University of Louisville Hospital, UofL Health, and Jewish Hospital are also part of the larger UofL Health system which the University set up in 2019 after major acquisitions and provides ample opportunities for continued growth both for the Radiology Department and the larger academic health system in the coming years. Louisville, with a metro area population over 1.2 million, is an exceptional and pleasant place to live and train. It is home to the Kentucky Derby and the associated Derby Festival, including the spectacular annual Thunder over Louisville airshow and fireworks. There are extensive lush-green parks including several designed by Law-Olmstead., numerous hiking trails throughout the state’s parks, as well as the Falls of the Ohio and Devonian fossil bed for those with outdoor interests. The Louisville Zoo, many museums, and waterfront park, and performing arts are great activities for the family to enjoy. The Louisville Loop for biking enthusiasts comprises 100 miles of biking within and around the city, with many segments completed and functional.
