The Neuroradiology Fellowship Position has an unexpected opening and we are currently accepting applications at this time. Interested candidates should proceed to our webpage at https://www.loyolamedicine.org/gme/radiology-fellowships/neuroradiology where you can find additional information for the program.
Loyola is a tertiary care hospital with 569 licensed beds located in Maywood, Illinois, 13 miles west of downtown Chicago. Also, on site is the Ronald McDonald Children's Hospital of Loyola. Loyola is a Level 1 Trauma Center with approximately 30,000 neuroradiology studies per year and extremely busy Neurosurgery, Neurology and Otolaryngology services. Gottleib Memorial Hospital, in adjacent Melrose Park, is a 264 bed community hospital with integrated medical staff and cross coverage of all imaging studies.
Imaging equipment is state of the art with three 3T and six 1.5T MRI scanners. There are 8 CT scanners in the system including GE's newest 256 slice Revolution scanner with four additional 64 slice scanners. Two new R&F rooms as well as a new Interventional Suite are available for procedures. Post processing is performed in a dedicated 3D lab with thin client access to Invivo and TerraRecon at each reading station.
The Neuroradiology Section includes six neuroradiologists, including two busy neuro-interventional radiologists and two MD/PhDs, with one clinical fellow each year. Fellows work closely with the faculty reading the gamut of neuroradiology examinations including brain, spine, head and neck imaging, pediatric imaging, vascular imaging and advanced imaging techniques including fMRI, DTI, tractography, CT/MR perfusion and spectroscopy. There are opportunities for research collaboration within the section and participation is an expected element of the fellowship. Lumbar punctures and myelograms are the main procedures and no prior procedure experience is necessary. Call commitment is light with one weekend per month of the fellow's choosing. There are no weekday call responsibilities or any stroke/interventional call responsibilities. Internal moonlighting opportunities are potentially available as well.
Candidates should be Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Radiology, hold or be eligible for a permanent medical license in the State of Illinois, and must have evidence of current/valid work authorization. Loyola University Health System accepts the J1 and J2 visas sponsored through the ECFMG but is unable to sponsor H1-B visas. For information on obtaining a permanent Illinois license, please visit: http://www.idfpr.com/profs/physicians.asp. Please note that IDFPR requires at least two years of postgraduate residency training completed in an approved training facility in the U.S. or Canada for permanent licensure application. USMLE all three tests are required for passage in the program.
