University of Michigan Department of Radiology has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow beginning ASAP. The project related to this position is focused on the development, validation and clinical application of a novel medical image analysis technique, vascular deformation mapping (VDM) for three-dimensional assessment of growth in aortic aneurysm and dissection. This project is supported by an NIH Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant in collaboration with a medical image analysis software company (Imbio). Our multi-disciplinary group involves close collaboration between investigators in the Departments of Radiology, Biomedical Engineering, Cardiac Surgery and Vascular Surgery. The post-doctoral researcher will be involved in the technical development, refinement and validation of key algorithms, as well as the application of novel analysis tools to analyze large populations of patients with aortic disease at University of Michigan. Given the novelty of this technique, technical developments and clinical analyses are anticipated to yield highly publishable results.
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for: technical development and validation of novel medical image analysis algorithms, database creation and management, supervision of undergraduate/graduate students, advanced data and statistical analysis, presentation & publication of data in research manuscripts.
Doctoral degree in the fields of Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Medicine, Medical Physics, or equivalent.
Experience with medical image analysis of CT/MRI data
Experience with machine learning/deep learning techniques
Proficiency in Python and MATLAB is required.
Experience with deformable image registration and ML/DL image segmentation
Experience with statistical techniques such as PCA, statistical shape modeling, and active contour/shape modeling.
Proficiency in R or other advanced statistical software package
