Neuroradiology Fellowship Position Opening

The Neuroradiology Fellowship at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is a one year full-time closely supervised training program at a designated Level 1 Trauma Center and its associated satellite hospitals.? This program is newly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Stony Brook University Hospital serves the entire Suffolk County of Long Island, and all major neurovascular trauma and neuro oncologic cases arrive at our institution. Our program has a unique strength in that we can offer both an academic hospital setting as well as community hospital and private practice settings for the Fellow’s training. Numerous cases with high-velocity traumatic brain and spine injuries are abundantly seen at Stony Brook University’s Level 1 Trauma Center, while more routine outpatient CT and MRI’s are offered through our community affiliated hospitals including Southampton and Eastern Long Island Hospitals. Our outpatient imaging centers located in Stony Brook as well as in Commack, Hampton Bay, and Riverhead also offer plenty of opportunities for the Neuroradiology fellow to expose themselves to outpatient Neuroradiology CT and MRI, as well as minimally invasive imaging guided procedures of the spine. Neuroradiology fellows will also work with Neurointerventional and Interventional Radiology sections for in-hospital IR procedures such as lumbar puncture, myelography, and kyphoplasty. Overall, our program offers a well-rounded training environment which is often not possible in some of the subspecialized inner-city hospitals.

Currently, we are accepting one fellow per year through the NRMP Match. The curriculum has been developed to build upon the knowledge and skills learned during residency.?The overall goal is for the fellow to become proficient in all aspects of Neuroradiology and procedures as well as develop the skills for life-long learning and self-assessment.?After completion of our program, the fellow is well trained and qualified to pursue future positions in either an academic or private practice setting. Our former graduates have gone on to successful academic and private practice careers.
