A one-year ACGME accredited Neuroradiology Fellowship position (PGY6) is available at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC starting July 1, 2024. Fellows are exposed to an environment of excellent teaching, outstanding research and a collegial work environment. In addition to being active team members of the reading room, fellows also participate in ongoing research projects under the supervision of the Neuroradiology faculty. The fellows are exposed to a well-rounded spectrum of pathology in all areas including advanced Brain, Pediatric, Spine, and Head & Neck imaging. The clinical teaching is complemented by neuroradiology lectures, interesting case conferences, and interdisciplinary conferences. As part of the neuroradiology fellowship, trainees are immersed in a comprehensive range of procedures aimed at diagnosing and treating many disorders which include lumbar punctures, myelography, head and neck biopsies, spine and paraspinal biopsies, and a wide range of minimally invasive pain procedures.
MUSC fosters a collaborative clinical scientific environment supporting its faculty, fellows and residents in many ways including state-of-the-art clinical and research facilities. State-of-the-art clinical equipment includes nine clinical MRI scanners at 1.5T and 3T, including two 3T scanners dedicated to pediatric imaging, and eleven CT scanners. These imaging facilities feed a common PACS, and studies are read at the main university campus in Charleston. MUSC consists of several closely related clinical service organizations. These include the University Hospital, the Ashley River Tower, the Institute of Psychiatry, the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, the Children's Health R. Keith Summey Medical Pavilion, and Storm Eye Institute. Clinical and research expertise includes a statewide stroke program, recognized as Comprehensive Stroke Center, the Medical University of South Carolina Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, designated as a Level 4 center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers, and nationally ranked Otolaryngology and Pediatric Oncology Programs.
