Job Title: Open Rank, Clinical Faculty Appointment (CFA)
The Department of Interventional Radiology is seeking candidates (3 positions) for a clinical faculty appointment due to growth of our procedure volumes and facilities. The final rank of this appointment will be commensurate with the final candidate’s qualifications. The clinical practice of the Department of Interventional Radiology encompasses a broad scope of image-guided interventions and therapies with a particular focus on Interventional Oncology. This faculty position will have an academic appointment within the Department of Interventional Radiology at the Texas Medical Center location in Houston, Texas. This individual will become part of a multidisciplinary team, involving colleagues from Medical Oncology, Radiation, and Surgery. Academic faculty positions at all ranks will include a mix of procedures, outpatient clinical encounters, inpatient rounding, trainee teaching, and research.
The Department of Interventional Radiology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the largest Interventional Radiology groups in the country. Our group is entirely focused on serving the needs of our cancer patients. We performed over 25,000 procedures in 2021. Our breadth of procedures spans the oncology and non-oncology spheres. We perform procedures at IR-dedicated facilities at the Texas Medical Center and two outpatient clinics in the surrounding Houston-area. Our research program is well-funded. We have a dedicated pre-clinical lab to conduct translational experiments. The pre-clinical lab is equipped with its own state-of-the-art hybrid CT and angiography system. We also have dedicated research staff to facilitate clinical studies conducted by our faculty. We train the next generation of leaders in Interventional Radiology through an independent residency program and an advanced Interventional Oncology Fellowship. We anticipate starting an integrated IR-DR residency program in 2024-2025.
Qualified applicants must be certified by the American Board of Radiology and CAQ certified (or eligible if a recent graduate) in Interventional Radiology. Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is also required. While the candidate will be primarily based at the Texas Medical Center location, the candidate may be called upon, on occasion, to staff one of our Houston Area Locations.
