The Division of Interventional Radiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital has a full-time faculty position available at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We plan to expand our current group of 7.6 interventional radiologists who perform >6000 procedural patient-encounters/year at our main campus, including >900 embolization procedures/year. Services include the full array of Interventional Oncology procedures, Uterine Fibroid Embolization, Thrombectomy/Thrombolysis for PE, TIPS/Transjugular Liver Biopsy, management of Lower Extremity and Pelvic Venous Insufficiency, Complex Venous Reconstruction, Dialysis Access Interventions including AV Fistula Creation, IVC Filter Placement and Retrieval, Thoracic Duct Embolization, Endoleak Repair, Prostate Artery Embolization, Geniculate Artery Embolization, placement and management of Biliary/GU/Abscess drainage catheters, and feeding tube placements. The division places a variety of venous access devices and manages a separate inpatient PICC team which screens and places 90% of non-tunneled venous access devices. Clinical resources include 4 Philips Clarity IQ angiography suites with 5 ultrasound units at the main campus. We have a separate biopsy service with a dedicated large bore interventional CT scanner (Canon Aquilion Prime SP) and 3 ultrasound procedure rooms, performing an additional >3000 procedures/year. Coverage responsibilities include IR procedures at a community hospital in South Philadelphia equipped with a Philips angiography suite being upgraded to Clarity IQ. The position is available immediately.
IR has both a self-contained clinic including a vein treatment center and participates in 3 multidisciplinary clinics, along with a multidisciplinary PERT program. As our research effort continues to expand, there are several ongoing clinical trials with federal or corporate funding. Responsibilities include teaching and supervision of IR/DR and independent IR residents, diagnostic radiology residents, and medical students. We have 4.5 FTE advanced practice providers and 2.0 FTE nurse navigators.
The position requires an MD degree or equivalent, completion of an interventional radiology training program, and eligibility for a Pennsylvania medical license.
