Location: Columbus, Ohio
Type: Full Time
The Department of Pediatric Radiology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Department of Radiology at The Ohio State University Wexner College of Medicine seek a talented physician Chief to lead one of the largest pediatric radiology departments in the United States. This is an exceptional opportunity for a nationally recognized physician leader to join one of America’s largest not-for-profit, freestanding pediatric health care systems. Nationwide Children’s Hospital has been named once again to the Top 10 Honor Roll on U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Children’s Hospitals”.
Reporting jointly to the Chief Medical Officer and the President of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Chief will lead an experienced and highly accomplished staff of 30 radiologists and provide medical leadership to a clinical department of over 200 dedicated staff that provides exceptional outpatient and inpatient care for close to 225,000 patient visits annually. Building upon an already premier program, the Chief will have the opportunity to develop further sub-specialization, grow the academic mission and increase the national visibility of the program through key recruits and programmatic expansion. The Department has an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Pediatric Radiology, which is approved for four fellows annually. Under the leadership of the new Chief, there is significant potential for increased academic and research activity in collaboration with other Nationwide Children’s departments and The OSU College of Medicine. Vital to the success of this leader will be embracing the hospital’s One Team values of collaborative teamwork and commitment to health equity in theory and in practice.
Nationwide Children’s is a full service, acute care, pediatric teaching hospital with 549 licensed beds on-site and the largest neonatal network in the country (130-beds are at off-site facilities). The Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is one of the Top 10 NIH-funded free-standing pediatric research facilities in the United States, with over 165 research-intensive faculty, most of whom are appointed in the Department of Pediatrics.
The successful candidate will be nationally recognized, with a proven track record of collegiality and excellence in clinical service, teaching and research. Experience in a similar key leadership position within the Department of Pediatric Radiology and demonstrated success in leading a diverse, complex and well-balanced department to achieve growth, loyalty and quality goals of the institution are essential. Board certification in Pediatric Radiology and eligibility for a faculty appointment with The Ohio State University College of Medicine at the rank of Associate or full Professor are required.
