UMass Memorial Medical Group, the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is seeking ABR and Neuroradiology CAQcertified clinician/scientist to lead the Division of Neuroradiology.Candidates should be eligible for appointment at the level of Associate or Professor of Radiology, and qualified for consideration for term tenure: https://umassmed.edu/ofa/governance-policies/academic-personnel-policy/. A research focus in neurodegenrative diseases is desirable.
The Department of Radiology at UMass Memorial Medical Center www.umassmed.edu/radiology performs over 1 million studies per year, across fivehospitals and an outpatient imaging center. Current faculty include 65+ fellowship trained Radiologists, all practicing in organ or modality-based divisions, and a 24/7/365 Emergency Radiology Division. The department trains 5 Residents per year (20 total).
The department has an enterprise-wide PACS system (AGFA and TeraRecon), as well as EPIC EMR. The main department and outpatient imaging centerin Worcester have 6 MRIs (including a new GE Pioneer 3T system), 7 CTs, including a Siemens “flash” and two Siemens 128 Definition Edge CTs.
The Neuroradiology division interprets over 55,000 studies per year. The Division is currently comprised of 9 faculty members. There are 2 ACGME accredited Neuroradiology fellowship positions, two NIR fellows and an “MRI” fellow who devotes 50% effort to neuroradiology. Areas of clinical focus at UMass include:
Endovascular treatment of stroke
Tay Sachs and Huntington's Disease
State-of-the-art gene therapy trails
Large animal models for pre-clinical gene therapy
The neuroradiology divisions work in close collaboration with our internationally recognized Neurointerventional division (NIR) which is comprised of four faculty and is supported by a robust NIH and industry funded research program via our New England Center for Stroke Research (NECStR), MRI research core with a 3T Philips MRI and 7T Bruker small animal MRI, and Image Processing Core lab. In addition, we have close collaboration with both Neurology and Neurosurgery.
