The Paul L. Foster School of Medicine (PLFSOM) Department of Radiology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) is seeking an innovative leader to serve as its new Vice Chair of Scholarship and Faculty Development. The Vice Chair will report to the Chair of Radiology. The Vice Chair will develop a vision for excellence in research, scholarship, and faculty development within the department.
TTUHSC El Paso is experiencing vibrant growth. TTUHSC El Paso consists of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and a planned school of dental medicine. The Department of Radiology’s subspecialties include Abdominal Imaging, Angiography and Interventional Radiology, Breast Imaging, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Emergency Radiology, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Neuroradiology, Nuclear Radiology, and Thoracic Radiology. The Department of Radiology’s graduate medical education program consists of Women’s Imaging and Body Imaging fellowships. Technical modalities of CT, MRI, and Ultrasound are incorporated into many of the subspecialty sections. Currently, the residency program has 11 residents.
University Medical Center (UMC), the primary teaching hospital, is a Level I trauma center and general hospital servicing El Paso county where radiology residents gain experience working with patients who have both common and complex medical problems. Operating in a filmless and paperless environment since 2005, the technology base of the department is state-of-the-art with the latest CT, MR, and information technology systems. Additionally, radiological services are now being provided at the university’s newest hospital partner, The Hospitals of Providence-Transmountain Campus, a new full-service, 106-bed general acute care hospital in a rapidly growing part of El Paso.
The Vice Chair will have the opportunity to provide greater depth to the clinical research program and continue the growth and expansion of clinical and educational services. El Paso consistently ranks as one of the safest, fastest growing, and best places to live in the U.S. This is an excellent leadership opportunity for someone who desires to build and develop an already clinically excellent department into a well-rounded academic department.
