The Department of Radiology at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University seeks candidates for a subspecialty trained full-time radiologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to join the Abdominal Imaging Division. Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is the academic flagship hospital system of the Jefferson Health Enterprise, spanning 4 hospital systems with 13 hospitals in the Philadelphia area and New Jersey.
The Abdominal Imaging Division consists of 17 faculty members in a high-volume clinical service overseeing and interpreting imaging studies performed at our Center City and South Philadelphia campuses and suburban outpatient imaging centers comprising 15 MRI, 10 CT and 30 US scanners in the Jefferson system, in addition to numerous additional scanners operated at affiliated imaging centers. We also operate 3 fluoroscopy suites and share coverage of a dedicated image-guided procedure unit with the Interventional Radiology Division.
Clinical responsibilities will include interpretation of body MRI, CT, US, fluoroscopy, plain film examinations, with the opportunity to perform image-guided procedures (if interested and with the appropriate training and experience). The department boasts a strong residency program with 45 residents and the division maintains an ACGME-accredited abdominal imaging fellowship with 4 fellows and an additional body MRI fellow. Educational responsibilities include daily clinical supervision of residents and abdominal imaging fellows; lecturing at fellow, resident, and medical student conferences and the summer abdominal imaging lecture series; and attendance and teaching at multidisciplinary conferences. The division collaborates closely with very busy GI, oncologic, urologic, pancreaticobiliary, colorectal, gynecologic and other specialties, as well as research PhDs within the department and there is ample opportunity for clinical research. Protected academic time will be commensurate with academic productivity and funding.
Applicants with interest in dual-energy CT applications, functional/multiparametric MRI, US contrast imaging, quality and safety and information technology are particularly encouraged to apply.
Applicants must have: 1) an MD, DO or equivalent degree, 2) completed of an accredited residency program and either have completed or be enrolled in a fellowship in an abdominal imaging subspecialty, 3) board certification or board eligibility and 4) a license or eligibility to practice medicine in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
