UMass Memorial Medical Center (UMMMC), in Worcester, MA is seeking a fellowship trained Interventional Radiologist to join an existing group of four Interventional Radiologists providing interventional services at UMMMC and one of our community hospitals. The percent effort will be split approximately 80/20 between UMMMC and the community. UMMMC serves well over one million lives and is a Level 1 Trauma Center with 95,000 ED visits/year.
UMMMC is one of the largest Transplant Centers in New England, performing over 60 liver transplants a year. Our IR division works in close collaboration with the transplant team, as well as our multidisciplinary Oncologic Center, OB/GYN and Urology Departments. We are part of active PERT and AVM clinics.
The candidate will participate fully in a busy division, performing a wide range of procedures, including the full array of interventional oncology (including Y90), TIPS and portal interventions, fibroid embolization, prostate embolization, endovascular treatment of VTE including thrombolysis, biliary interventions, endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms and venous access, GI/GU interventions, trauma embolization, and CT and Ultrasound guided biopsy, ablation and drainage procedures. Our IR group is supported by a group of 8 APPs, who perform all vascular access and some IR procedures both at UMMMC and in the community.
The UMass Radiology Department has state-of-the art imaging equipment, an AGFA PACS system, EPIC EMR, Tera-Recon image processing software and PowerScribe 360. The department is comprised of approximately 65 fellowship-trained Radiologists organized into specialized divisions, trains 20 residents (5 per year) and 9 fellows. We currently support an ESIR fellow and have applied for an IR/DR residency program. The department also includes approximately 15 PhDs. It is supported by more than $6M/year in research funding and offers a full research IR suite with a 3T MRI.
