The University of Washington Department of Radiology is recruiting for one full time, faculty member at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor without tenure, commensurate with experience, to join an academic group comprised of 14 neuroradiology faculty and nine fellows for an anticipated start date of July 1, 2019. This position is a 12 month service period. Responsibilities include clinical coverage of the diagnostic neuroradiology service, education of medical students, residents and fellows, and pursuit of academic excellence. Candidates will be expected to perform clinical work in all aspects of diagnostic neuroradiology. The neuroradiology section provides clinical coverage and teaching at four medical centers (University of Washington, Harborview, VA, and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance), all with state-of-the-art equipment, including five 3 Tesla and five 1.5 Tesla MR systems, three 64-detector multidetector CT scanners, two dedicated neurointerventional angio suites and two PET-CT. School of Medicine faculty members have an annual service period of 12 months (July 1-June 30).
The University of Washington Department of Radiology has 134 faculty, including physicians, physician assistants, advanced registered nurse practitioners, and scientists; and 105 residents, fellows and post-doctoral students in very competitive residency and fellowship programs. The University of Washington’s Research Division has a strong record of NIH and industry funding. There are three dedicated research MR systems at 1.5T, 3T, and 14T along with close on-campus ties with related Departments such as Biomedical Engineering, EE, and APL. The UW School of Medicine is consistently ranked “top two” with nationally recognized associated hospitals and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance/Fred Hutchinson Research Institute. Seattle is often cited as one of the most livable cities in North America with a very temperate climate and superb multi-season recreation nearby.
Candidates for this position must hold an M.D. degree or foreign equivalent. Candidate should possess or be eligible for full medical licensure in Washington State. Candidates must have ABR (American Board of Radiology) certification and completed a neuroradiology fellowship in an accredited program and be CAQ-certified or eligible in neuroradiology. The successful candidate should have demonstrated commitment to an academic career as documented through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at regional and national meetings. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
