The Department of Radiology of Upstate Medical University is seeking a board certified radiologist with expertise in cardiothoracic imaging and strong academic interests, for a full-time faculty position. Candidates must be board certified in radiology, and have fellowship training or equivalent experience in cardiothoracic imaging. The ideal candidate with be competent to consult on all aspects of cardiac and thoracic radiology. A commitment to resident and medical student education is essential; interest in clinical research is a plus. Additionally, candidates must have or be eligible to obtain a New York State Medical License. Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Upstate Medical University consists of the School of Medicine, the adjacent University Hospital, and the Community Campus—a nearby community hospital. The University Hospital, including its new Children’s Hospital and Cancer Center, is a tertiary referral center and Level 1 trauma center. The successful candidate will provide clinical services, and participate in multidisciplinary clinical conferences, primarily at the University Hospital. Our Department of Radiology consists of 34 (31 radiologists and 3 medical physicists) faculty members delivering high quality imaging consultation and image-guided interventions in a multispecialty environment. The Chest Radiology section works closely with outstanding colleagues in pulmonary medicine, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, medical and radiation oncology, and pathology.
The department’s imaging facilities are state-of-the-art. Major equipment includes 7 CT scanners, a PET/CT scanner, and 6 MR scanners. We perform over 49,000 cardiothoracic imaging and CT-guided biopsy procedures annually. Upstate Medical University has an integrated electronic medical record, enterprise PACS and voice recognition reporting. Most importantly, our work environment is pleasant.
