The Radiology Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School (HMS) is seeking enthusiastic applicants for a radiologist faculty position in Cardiothoracic Radiology to join its dynamic team. The position has become available due to substantial growth and diversification of clinical service. The position will include dedicated, regular daytime shifts at the main campus. Candidates will interpret a wide range of cardiothoracic imaging studies including chest radiographs, chest CTs, and cardiac CTs. Candidates should be eager to lead and develop specific clinical service lines at the main campus and the community sites. All faculty in our supportive team participate equally in a call pool for after hours and weekend coverage.
The Division of Cardiothoracic Imaging at BIDMC has strong international standing in education and research. The Division currently has 3 full-time and 3 part-time highly dedicated faculty members, a clinical fellowship (1 fellow per year), and a dedicated research fellowship, the Sven Paulin Research Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Imaging (1 fellow per year). Hospital-based facilities span two main campuses and include conventional radiographic units, 12 multidetector-row CT machines and 2 procedural CT suites, as well as dedicated cardiac MRI units. The division treasures its close collaborative relationships with referring services, and its contributions to several multidisciplinary conferences per week are highly valued by their clinical colleagues. Traditional research interests of the Division include the imaging of airways diseases, interstitial lung diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, oncological imaging, functional respiratory imaging, as well as dose- reduction and the exploration of cardio-pulmonary interactions.
The Cardiothoracic Imaging Division runs a highly successful CT Lung Cancer Screening program. The Division also runs a joint cardiac imaging residency program with the Cardiology Division. Candidates should be excited to work in an academic environment and committed to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Candidates should also be committed to clinical research and to contributing to the development of the Division’s broad research portfolio.
BIDMC is a major Harvard Medical School-affiliated teaching hospital with 649 beds, a Level I trauma center, and well-developed multi-specialty clinical programs, including renowned thoracic oncology and thoracic surgery practices, a multidisciplinary airways disease center, an interstitial lung disease clinic, and an NCI-designated Cancer Center, including translational imaging modalities.
Applicants must be ABR board-eligible or board certified and eligible for academic appointment at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor level at Harvard Medical School.
