The University of Chicago Medicine (UCM) has a one-year ACGME accredited neuroradiology fellowship position available beginning on July 1, 2017.
The fellowship provides advanced training in neuroradiological imaging and procedures. The program offers integrated training experience in both a major academic medical center and North Shore University Health System’s Evanston Hospital, a leading community hospital fully affiliated with the University. This unique experience prepares fellows well for a career in both academic radiology and private practice.
Fellows will be exposed to a full variety of neuroradiological cases, including a high volume of head and neck cases as well as a steady number of pediatric neuroradiological exams. Advanced imaging and a balanced mix of neuroradiological procedures are integrated components of the training. With a total of 18 faculty members, all well versed in general neuroradiology, with individuals specialized in head and neck, advanced neuroimaging, pediatric neuroradiology, and interventional neuroradiology, the fellowship program provides a well-rounded subspecialty education. Comer Children’s Hospital is one of two pediatric hospitals in Chicago and is a Level 1 trauma center. A new adult Level 1 trauma center is projected to open first quarter of 2018 at UCM. Two new off-site outpatient imaging centers will be opening shortly as well.
The Department of Radiology has maintained a strong culture in education. The year-round comprehensive teaching curriculum includes didactic lectures in neuroradiology, neuropathology and physics, as well as multiple case conferences each week. All fellows are provided a dedicated weekly academic day to pursue research, mentored by faculty with ongoing research projects, with intent to publish and present the results at major societal meetings. Optional elective time may be arranged.
