The University of Arizona Health Network (UAHN) is searching for a Radiologist to apply for a Cardiothoracic Imaging Fellowship for academic years beginning in July 2017 and July 2018.
Experience will include extensive training in each of these key areas: cardiac MRI/MRA; cardiac CTA; coronary artery calcium scoring; MRA and CTA of the chest, abdomen, pelvis, and lower extremities; high resolution chest CT; multi-station MRI of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis; cardiac nuclear medicine imaging including myocardial perfusion SPECT, myocardial viability perfusion assessment by perfusion/metabolism PET, radionuclide Angiography (MUGA); plain film chest imaging. During daily assignments and readouts, the fellow will expand their clinical experience and knowledge within cardiothoracic imaging. Fellow will master a core fund of knowledge in cardiac and thoracic anatomy, imaging anatomy, imaging signs, pathology, imaging techniques, medical therapy, and surgery.
Multiple equipment units are available to the fellow including 5 CT units, 5 Ultrasound units, 6 units for MRI and 2 units for PET or PET/CT.
The Cardiothoracic Imaging Fellow will be encouraged to formulate a research project in collaboration with an assigned or chosen mentor. Trainees will be encouraged to submit their work to national and international conferences in addition to peer reviewed journals.
Throughout the year, the fellow will also have extensive interaction with other medical services within the hospital and will be actively involved in several multidisciplinary conferences. At many of these meetings, several of the medical services routinely provide didactic lectures related to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of their patients. Frequently, these discussions revolve around the newest techniques and approaches to treatment.
The UAHN is a Level 1 Trauma center with a hospital bed capacity of 487 and more than 210,000 diagnostic radiology cases annually.
Job Requirements: Board certified/eligible by the American Board of Radiology. Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program.
